Using clinical reasoning to improve skills in oral case presentation Wiese J, Saint S, Tierney LM
Oral case presentation skills are essential for clinical practice, as they form the basis for clinician-to-clinician transfer of information important to the care of individual patients. Although principles of oral case presentation are taught in medical school and applied during clinical training, the precise elements of effective and efficient communication are often not clearly articulated to learners. The authors describe a method of teaching and practicing oral case presentation that uses traditional principles of clinical reasoning to guide the development of skills in obtaining, processing, and organizing clinical data for oral presentation.
