Merging old school methods with new technology to improve skills in cardiac auscultation Saxena A, Barrett MJ, Patel AR, Bove AA
Cardiac auscultation skills among clinical trainees are widely regarded as needing improvement, and addressing these deficiencies is challenging in the current time-constrained environment of clinical training. In this study, medical residents who underwent brief intensive training using electronic stethoscopes as patient simulators showed significant improvement in cardiac auscultation skills. These improvements were achieved regardless of whether the resident's use of the stethoscope was supervised.
