Improving DVT prophylaxis in hospitalized patients: a quality improvement project Annamalai A, Deckard AJ
Internal medicine residents at Southern Illinois University are required to participate in the development of a quality improvement (QI) project. This article describes a QI project that one group of residents chose to undertake as part of a hospital-wide effort to improve the use of adequate pharmacologic prophylaxis in hospitalized patients at risk for thromboembolism. Study methods and results are reported, along with important lessons learned from the experience.
