  1. 1/250 miscarriage rate. The overall risk of miscarriage following a single amniocentesis procedure is approximately 1/200 to 1/250 in this patient. The risk of a chorionic villus sampling procedure (which has no relevance in this particular case) is approximately 1/100. The other ratios have no meaning.
