Because this patient is a nonsmoker, adenocarcinoma is the most likely diagnosis. Patients with a history of smoking are more likely to develop small cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and large cell carcinoma. It is not uncommon for patients to present with bone pain from metastasis as their initial manifestation of lung cancer.
