The presence of a pulsus parvus et tardus (ie, a diminished and delayed pulse) is characteristic of aortic stenosis. The disorder is also characterized by a sustained, forceful left ventricular impulse, a prominent presystolic impulse, and a systolic thrill over the second right intercostal space.
