This patient recently had an acute MI, and in such patients, aspirin is recommended over other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agents. Indomethacin and ibuprofen would be appropriate treatments for acute pericarditis in situations where the patient does not have a recent history of MI. Propranolol is not indicated for the treatment of acute pericarditis.
