Answer 2 Aspirin. This patient recently had an acute MI, and in such patients, aspirin is recommended over other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agents. Indomethacin and ibuprofen would be appropriate treatments for acute pericarditis in situations where the patient does not have a recent history of MI.
