Answer 3 The degree of relaxation prolongation is proportional to the severity of hypothyroidism. In general, the more hypothyroid a patient is, the longer the reflex relaxation time. In fact, most patients with untreated hypothyroidism have relaxation times greater than the normal 240 to 320 milliseconds.
