  1. They are associated with deletions in band 22q11. Vascular rings have been associated with the band 22q11 deletion that is known to cause cardiac abnormalities in the CATCH 22 syndrome. Vascular rings account for less than 1% of cardiac abnormalities and affect sexes equally. No racial or geographic associations have been identified.
