Five-day treatment with azithromycin in patients with adenitis demonstrated a more rapid decrease in node volume (as measured by ultrasound) over the first month following initiation of therapy. Amoxicillin, amoxicillin/clavulanate, ceftriaxone, and doxycycline have not been demonstrated in controlled or uncontrolled studies to have clinical efficacy in treatment of patients with cat-scratch disease.
