The complete blood count of this case patient shows anemia and thrombocytopenia, suggesting a bone marrow disease process. When abnormal peripheral blood counts are detected, further evaluation of bone marrow is often needed to rule out malignant causes, particularly if numerous immature cells are found in the peripheral circulation. This evaluation may provide valuable information about the primary disease process.
