Use of advance directives by community-dwelling older adults

In a telephone survey, elderly subjects were asked about their behaviors related to planning for end-of-life medical care. Although 47% said they had discussed their wishes with a family member, only 16% had made written plans and only 13% had discussed their preferences with their physician.
