Development and implementation of a hospital pathway for patients with diabetic foot lesions Whelan CT
With the primary aim of addressing knowledge deficits and improving physician satisfaction, a hospitalist-led team developed a clinical pathway for diabetic patients with infected foot ulcers. An inexpensive e-mail reminder system helped to publicize the pathway, whose features include early debridement, formal vascular assessment, and magnetic resonance imaging when osteomyelitis is a concern.
