Cholesterol management in a population of managed care enrollees Harley CR, Williams SA, McDonough KL, Nelson MA
A retrospective analysis of claims data revealed that less than one third of hypercholesterolemic patients with established heart disease or with indicators for atherosclerosis and at high risk for heart disease were receiving statin therapy. In patients for whom laboratory test results were available, less than half met the National Cholesterol Education Program’s target level for low-density lipoprotein.
