Antimicrobial central venous catheters: a qualitative review of the literature and economic assessment
Oinonen MJ, Ratko TA, Cummings JP, Matuszewski KA
Antiseptic-impregnated central venous catheters have been associated with reductions in catheter colonization and, in some studies, have reduced the incidence of catheter-related bloodstream infections. The authors review the randomized controlled trials that examined the effectiveness of this technology and estimate the potential cost impact of its use.
